BTJ Momma
This is my momma.
Shout out to the woman who’s filled my life with all the joy. She gets my humor and is always quick to laugh with me. She’s the best combo of kind and fierce in a mom. Once at big brother’s soccer game growing up a mom yelled at him that she was going to go take him out. Well momma bear SPRUNG right up from her chair ready to pounce and defend her 17 year old baby cub. I can’t remember the exact details but no fight ensued so perhaps that mom sat back down? I’ll have to ask mom, but regardless I love the memory because it reminds me just how fiercely she loves and protects us.
Looking back on my childhood it’s pretty dang amazing that she filled it with so much joy and adventure PRE PINTEREST people. She made scavenger hunts for us, made up stories, and took us on Friday adventures. Every so often she would check us out of school and take us somewhere fun. Big —adventures like horse back riding with my best friend (hi Mae!), jumping from hay bail to hay bail and making up funny words when visiting her grandmother’s farm and small —like a surprise trip to Subway ( I was OBSESSED with their turkey sandwiches as a kid. I also loved the smell, which now I realize is SO WEIRD). She gave us her attention and love and made sure we felt important. Felt loved. She was my first example of loving selflessly and to this day is still the person who’s always waiting to fill me up and remind me to find joy in my life.
Thanks momma for setting such a good example of bringing joy to others!
